(Codsall)
I wish for many an obvious thing
Wealth and my health and muse what the future may bring
Thankful for all that I have but I wish I could sing
I wish I could play the piano
Strum along on a six-string guitar
Worry no more about bank balance
Own a bit of land a larger house and drive a bigger better car
Strange though I wish I were in a picture
Of a painting by Jack Vettriano
In the background walking to Largo
Rain, wind or shine
Wishful thinking of mine
Attempting for a moment or two to inscribe
Endeavour I do to describe
Wishing I had learned more in my time
At least employed avoiding prison and crime
I have the highest regard for the honest card dealt in my hand
Admittedly I sulk and I skulk for a stretch of sand
Occasionally making me harp on and whinge
Begging his merit a royal golden fringe
Yes, I wish I were in a picture
Of a painting by Jack Vettriano
In the background walking to Largo
Rain, wind or shine
Wishful thinking of mine

Hi Robbie
Your poem really made me smile. I ADORE Jack Vettriano's work - and every time I'm down in Leven I remember his famous paintings. I don't know that you'll ever get to be in one of his paintings -but no harm in wishing!!
Tanks for sharing with us.
