For our Thirtyeight Wedding Anniversary

This is a poem written by my great-grandmother, Jane (Jeannie) Gow Drever, to her husband, Thomas Drever on March 25th, 1939. Both from Scotland they met in Africa around 1900 while both missionaries for their homeland.
"What grandeur and pleasure
{surrounds} us today
Dear Husband of mine.
Another milestone we have reached
In company of each other
A trying one no doubt is been
But we are still together.
For thirtyeight years along life's way
A long time it may seem
But to us it has flown, as if on wings
As the good word says
As thy days, so shall thy strength be
That we have proved always.
True, it has been this all the years
to {link} us a little closer to each other dear.
The coming year is in good hands
then come what may
His strength's our stay
In all sorts of weather.
{possible pages lost}
Our little flock is now grown and off
But one, still clings so oft as not.
The children's children oh how sweet
To watch them grow and increase.
May our prayers for them this out the years
Like their father's God, still their God be
To serve and trust along life's way
Knowing His will and ways are best always.
The Psalmist speaks of woman thus
Who so findeth a wife, findeth a good thing
So I hope the thing you found was good.
And Proverbs tells us what is true
The steps of a good man, and such was mine
Are ordered of the Lord.
He also says, mark the perfect man
I claim that mine is one of that kind
So may we live long our song to raise
To the end of our days
His glorious Name to praise."
