Has anyone heard the poem which was spoken when training a dog?
The dog was made to sit still and a small piece of bread placed on its nose.
The following short poem was then told to the dog.
"Heres a bit of King George's bread
Ye darna take it till he be dead
Cock fire - snap it."
At the words "snap it" the dog would toss the bread and catch
it in its mouth.
This required quite a lot of training of course by both the
owner and the dog before perfection.
Thanks,
Mr A.Laird

My father's grandfather, who was from Aberdeenshire used to have his dog perform that trick. According to dad the wording was slightly different:
"Heres a bit of King George's bread
Ye darna take it till he be dead
Here he comes over the knoll
Ready, fire. Snap!."
